Embroidered small projects

Hi everybody

Hope you all are doing good .

Weather out here in Delhi is changing slowly after a long spell of hot and humid days which makes you tired and lethargy. There is so much stitching to be done but I keep postponing the idea of sitting on the machine. Though i mustered some courage and stitched myself a dress which i will be posting later. I just make lame excuses to myself for not doing the work . I find even embroidering a bit difficult in this season as threads keep flying and get tangled because of fan being on high speed. Any way life goes on and I will have a different story to say during winter. You will hear me crying again because of cold weather. Well hot, humid or cold weather one find ways to fulfill one’s passion. I did not do much but whatever I did I would like to share with you folks.

I came across some beautiful pincushions on the net and felt like making for myself. Below is the picture of my very first pincushion... I am sort of addicted to these pincushions work now. Cute little things to make for yourself and as present for friends who embroider.

I enjoyed making this and started making one more . I made the circle and after that my mind went blank as I did not know what design to make. So after 2-3 days I just drew on the cloth directly and started embroidery just to check how it will look. I got so carried away with the design that I completely covered the circle.
I used stem stitch, lazy daisy and bullion stitches for this. I am happy with the outcome. Embroidery is complete but I still have to complete the project .

I did 2-3 more small projects. I started making the following  as pincushion but turned it into a wall hanging but I think it can be used a pincushion too . Or it will be better on the wall????????
After finishing the embroidery and cutting it in circle I stuffed it with cotton and mounted it on a “CD”.  Yes a non working CD (thanks to computers and music players) I learnt from a tutorial from the net. Here is the picture of my work. The work is mounted on a CD and stuffed with cotton

Below picture is the back of the work You can see the CD out there.

Then I took a cardboard and cut it to the size of CD and covered it with the cloth and sewed both circles ie. the front part with embroidery and the back part together so that the back looks neat.

I attached a loop on top while stitching two circles together so that it can be hanged.

This is the back of the work with my name on it.

This is how it looks from the side. You can see the bulge  because of cotton stuffing.

This is another more small project i did to learn to make poppies with ribbon.

Hope you people like my work. See you soon
Take care.

Back after a long gap.............

Hi my blogger friends.

I am back to the blogger world after a gap of 14 months. I just could not bring myself to sit and write. May be after seeing my mother-in-law's very long illness and then my husbands illness, i just wanted to take a break from everything. Occasionally i would open the blogs to go through your beautiful work and read about it  but i think i spent more time reading food blogs and yes a new passion in my life and it is the main reason for not sitting down to write and do other work......  "PINTEREST". Oh my God. I am pinterest addict, my considerable time is spent on pinterest. Many a times a opened my blog to write but the temptation of being on pinterest site was too strong then to write and that temptation always won and still wins.  (i think many of you too are pinterest addicts, if not then stay away from it or should i say you are missing something in life)  but then it helped me see some of the beautiful work say it quilts , crazy quilts, crewel or other form of embroidery, ribbon work, bargello work, beautiful dresses, food and other types of crafts etc. etc.etc. Because of it i could visit so many blogs and saw some the beautiful work and learned too which otherwise is not possible and moreover one does not know that such blogs exists. I think i should take out time to write too. My pinterest addition will stay.

Well,    i continue from where i left.

I had seen some beautiful hexagon quilts and crazy quilts and its tutorials and wanted to try it out with small project to get the hang of  it. Ii made this on a pillow cover and the did little embroidery on it as you can see in the pictures below. I enjoyed doing it.

I think i should go for a little bigger project now.

I have been making yo yo's for quite some time now for some project. So the other day i took out all those and placed them on white sheet to see how many i have made and how they look. Well i have yet to decide how to place these or what sort of design should i make with these. I still need some more of these..

Hope you like my work.

Bye and take care.

Ribbon and thread embroidery done on a print out.

Hi everybody

Hope you all are doing fine and busy with your routine work and finding time in between for your passion/hobby be  it embroidery, knitting, stitching,  painting etc. etc. to inspire people like me.

Days have started getting hotter here in Delhi and that means, one cannot go out much unless and until it is absolutely necessary. Not forgetting summer also means eating mangoes, melons, ice creams, cold drinks. Every weather has its own charm. Mangoes, melon have their own tasty charm "BUT"  summers are definitely uncomfortable because there is no antidote for heat. I better stop crying about weather and tell you about my work.

Sometime back or should i say long time back i learnt from the net about taking out prints on the cloth on our personal printer at home and took out the following print out. I was happy with my job but i did not know what to do with it, whether to frame it just as it is or do some sort of embroidery on it and in this confusion this project got delayed. To be frank with you people i almost forgot where i kept it. At times this printout would play hide and seek with me, it would show up while cleaning cupboard and when i decided to do some work on it i would not recollect where i kept it.

Following is the printout of our deity Radha and Krishna. Very pleased with the outcome.

After playing hide and seek with this print out for so long i finally decided to do ribbon embroidery on it. I only had white and off white ribbon at home that time so i went ahead with it to make leaves and also made small roses with red ribbon.

Did little thread embroidery too.

I had bought this bead string from my local embroidery store thinking it may be of some use sometime. I am happy to put it to good use here.

Here is the close up of tiny roses.

Once i finished making leaves with white ribbon i  painted them with green color.

Did little embroidery for bangles.

Only the lowest part remains to be worked upon. Because i was not able to decide what type of embroidery to be done on this part. I'll be back soon with the finished product.

Hope you like my work so far.

Take care and God bless.

Hi everbody

Oh my God, I did not realise that i was away for so long from blogger world . Its been almost  5 months since i posted something out here, not that i have done a great deal of work to show but still its better to be connected with friends to see what they have done and to learn new things.

My husband fell ill in dec. 2012, was down with high fever for almost 15-20 days which left him drained of strength and could not join duty for almost 2 months so i was busy looking after him and during that time my brother and his family came down to be with me, they were of great help. My husband is fine now and has resumed duty, Thank God.

I did no do much just completed my crochet shawl for myself and a crochet baby blanket for  our grand son.

I made use of my brothers visit and made him model my work. You can see blanket hanging at back.I have added a simple black color border to the shawl now, this picture was taken earlier.

My nephew was very happy to model for my work with a promise to take him out for treat.

Sweater made by me for my brother, he wanted one with shawl collar.

Hope you guys like my work.

I'll be back soon .

Take care.

Patchwork

Hi every body

Hope you people are doing good.
I just could not bring myself to write after my mother-in-law's demise.  Actually there is not much to show to you people as i was pretty occupied with my MIL's illness and whatever spare time i could find and to boost my spirits i worked on two pillow covers sitting beside her.

I had been going through some beautiful blogs where these ladies have made some really excellent quilts using Hexagon and circles. These hexes really fascinated me and i thought of trying out these. I do not think i have those patience nor that talent to make such beautiful quilts but i certainly can use these hexes and circles to decorate my pillow or make complete pillow or cushion covers.

Hexagon flower getting ready to be stitched. You can see those stitches out there.

hexagone flower

So here is my hexagon flower with leaf on the pillow cover.

I learnt from Janet M. Davies blog how to make perfect circles so tried out these as well and put them on another pillow and surrounded these circles with little embroidery.
Have a look.

I enjoyed doing these and  now i plan to make cushion covers using these two.here is the picture of both pillow covers. Making these were pretty fast then doing embroidery and some change too.

I have come across some beautiful applique/patchwork cushion covers on the net.
What do you have to say about these cushions covers with circles.

On this cushion and quilt  below the colors stand out on black background.

Below is pillow cover using hexagon, so colorful  and good use of scraps too.

I love these and mind you these are just of many many beautiful things made by some very talented ladies out there. There is so much to learn everyday and so much to do.

See you later friends till then take care.
Pratima.

Hi everybody

I am writing after such a long time and that too with heavy heart. My mother-in-law breathed her last on 19th Sept. after long illness and with her i lost my great supporter, encourager and admirer of my work. It will take sometime for us to settle in our routine without her now. We all miss her here at our place.
