Been so long.........

Hi everybody

Its been soooo long since i had a chat with you people. I am at my laziness best now a days. Not doing much, just planning to do things but seem to be in no mood to do anything. Oh yes enjoying summer season ( does anybody enjoys summer, i don't think so) and going through your beautiful blogs and watching your wonderful works.

Well i am doing a small and slow work at present. There is this dupatta of mine which i had embroidered some time back but was not satisfied with it and wanted to do something more on it and i started filling it up, though not doing a heavy work and i should have finished it long back but i am still pulling it on. (Blame it in hot and humid climate)Just one line left to finish.

This is what i had done previously on this dupatta but always wanted to fill it up.

This is what it is looking now after filling it up a bit.

I did little mistake while tracing designs and because of that i can still see some gaps in between which i think needs to be looked after.

Here is the close up of all design used.

Below is the saree i had worked on some time back. Did sequence work on pallu and border. The saree is parrot green in colour whereas pallu is light grey and on it i have used pink colour sequence. I have tried my level best to click clear picture but because of light colour pallu and little shiny material i think i could not do a good job.

Here is the saree border. Its a crushed material saree.

There is one more saree i am woking on since quite some time. Doing same sequence work. This was a plain red saree with white check design. I fail to understand why i undertake such tedious and time consuming work. I had plans only for border patti and while hunting for it i found one which i have used on it. Then like an idiot i started filling squares with sequence and pipes.

bye for now.

was feeling marooned ..............

Hi everybody

Its sooooooooooo nice to be back to the blogger world once again. My computer had conked off and it look a month to set it right. First the engineer took it and he fell ill so it kept lying with him for 3 weeks and he returned it with repairing it. The search stared for another computer engineer which took another one week and finally yesterday we got it repaired. All this while i was feeling marooned on a far away island away from my blogger world and friends. Now i take sigh of relief because i am with you people. There is so much to catch up now. I want to see what you people had been upto all this time while i was away.

Bye bye
Take care.

nature's revenge or....

Hi friends

Latur, Bhuj though happened sometime back but spine chilling images are still very fresh in our minds and then Haiti, Chile, New Zealand and now Japan. Powerful killer earth quakes have rocked one corner of the globe or another at regular intervals. Recent ones occurring in just over a years' time.

The latest disaster has, unfortunately, hit Japan (it could have happened anywhere on the earth) & the misery & untold hardship it is causing to the people of Japan is unfolding in front of our eyes in our sitting rooms, thanks to technology. Our hearts go out in support of the people of Japan.

Once again mother nature has proved and shown us time and again that she is the boss and please do not mess with it or take her for granted . We people are so insignificant and so helpless in front of the forces of nature. Don't you think these earth quakes and floods & other natural disasters are happening at more frequent interwals now. Is it because humans are abusing the bountiful nature more than using it for our essential needs. I was just thinking whether it is the nature's way of reacting to the actions of humans. Do we, as the race, need to pause & reflect on our profligate ways & a need to rethink our so called developmental ways & do a mid way correction.

Knitting and Crochet

Hi

Hows' everybody? Weird to ask at this hour of the day I think. Its 10:54 pm and some of you must be sleeping or trying to sleep after having a cup of hot milk and some of you must be sitting on computer with cup of coffee, surfing the net like me. I am on the net now because this is the only time i get to be here. I am not only talking to you now but also washing cloths too, multitasking, you see. Well, i thought while the machine is doing its job I'll sit and show you some of my knitting done earlier by me. Learnt every project through net.

Following is the very first and definitely not the last shawl done by me. I have some very beautiful designs for shawls which i'll like to make in future with, of course, your best wishes.
Stitch is known as feather and fan stitch.
My vocabulary, be it of knitting or embroidery stitches, has improved and expanded widely.

I love to knit caps/topi (you can make out from the following photograph) as it is a small project and one can wear new caps every day. I am a self confessed Topimaster, you see. I have learnt to knit caps on circular needles thanks to the on line videos and tutorials.

I always wanted to learn and knit the following beret on circular needle. This is the very first beret made by me and i would love to do more with beautiful designs. I'll be definately back with more one day.

I am not a crochet person but always wanted to learn this art after seeing beautiful work on the various blogs. So one day i mustered enough courage for it and took the plung and learnt the following stitch and made my first "Ripple Stitch" crochet muffler for my hubby.

One more little crochet work i learnt from one of the blogger friend.

These are few of my knit and crochet work for now, i'll be back with more.

Hows the following design? Its on a tray. I bought it specially for this simple design.

Hope you like my work.

Embroidery on Dupattas

Hi everybody

Here at Delhi we are facing some freak weather since past few days. Days were getting little warm so we thought its the end of cold season and that too soon but then it started getting cloudy and we had thunder and hail storm one day and cold is back. Hope this nice weather continues till Holi festival.
We may fail and forget to do our job but Almighty never forgets and fails to do its work. He changes the weather slowly and with it comes new fruits and vegetables for that season for us to enjoy and relish. The colours in nature, be they be of flowers, fruits, butterflies, birds or animals are beautiful and bountiful and we like to capture that beauty in our embroidery. Nature inspires us like no one else. I thank Discovery channel for showing us beautiful and colourful fishes deep under sea. No colour is a mismatch. Almighty's designer is excellent. We embroiders salute Him for teaching us a sense of colour combination.

I too love to capture those beautiful colours from nature in my embroidery, some times i succeed and sometimes i fail miserably.
Here i am showing you some of my dupattas embroidered my me.

This is kantha work on silk. I made this for my sis-in-law long time back.

Following one was a plane cotton dupatta with golden border. I bought it with the intention to embroider it. It was like a blank very inviting canvas for me waiting to be embroidered. Drawing and tracing is done by me.

One more cotton dupatta. Embroidered only border.Though a finished project but every time i look at it i feel like filling it up in the middle with little flowers/bootee. It will look full and good that way, i think. What do you say?

Following one is made on georgette. Though it is complete and i am using it but i feel like putting some more designs in between to make it look fuller. I have some designs in my mind for it.

One more on georgette. One day i got into mood to embroider on red so i went and bought this dupatta and i plan to wear it with red patiala salwar. It is still a beautiful dream of mine as this is yet to be finished.

Hope you like my dupattas and the work on it.

Hand Embroidery

Hi everybody,

We had to rush my mom-in-law to hospital few days back. Her ill health is keeping me very busy but I try and squeeze out an hour or so to visit blogger world. Your blogs cheer me up and keep me going in these hard times. My mom-in-law i.e. mil too enquires about the latest work on the blogs. I am not doing much, will be finishing knitting muffler and am trying my hand on Brazilian embroidery. Not a big or planned project just trying out the stitches. In the meantime i thought of showing some embroidered stuff to my friends. This embroidery is not done my me.

My sis-in-law presented my husband this beautiful kantha embroidered kurta which i would like you to have a look at. The front panel is fully embroidered and not with just one design but different designs have been used to cover the front panel. I hope you will like it too.

This is the front panel.

I tried my best to take photographs of each design on this kurta which makes up front panel so you can have a good look at it.

Second one is my dress i.e. salwar kameez set worked in what is known as phool pati work which is from place called Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, a North Indian state.
Phool-Patti-ka-kam is a traditional work where patches of cloth (phool means flower & patti means leaf) are cut into motifs, usually floral, and stitched onto a background of organdie. This is much loved by the ladies of certain parts of Uttar Pradesh, particularly in the Rampur area, for their saris and dupattas.

Beautiful shadow work on salwar kameez. Material is organdy. I just love wearing them during summer months. They look and feel cool.

This was a dupatta gifted to me by my sis-in law which i modified into a kameez.
Following is done on georget material.

I would like to show you a beautifully embroidered saree which i got as a gift. I love the work on it. Border and pallu of saree is embroidered.

Following photograph is of Pallu.

Following is the border which is worked all over saree plus blouse too is embroidered.

Few of my hand embroidered stuff. Idea is to share good embroidery work with my blogger friends.

Hugs
